Fifteen years ago, Leigh and Lew Melvin set out to create more than just a restaurant - they wanted to build a gathering place rooted in family, faith, and good food in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia. After tossing around names like “Leigh & Lew’s” and “Lew & Leigh’s,” they ultimately chose Callister’s in honor of Leigh’s late father, whose middle name was Callister, as a heartfelt tribute to the man who inspired her spirit of hard work. Leigh has been serving since the age of 12, she’s poured decades of experience into shaping Callister’s into the kind of place she always dreamed of: a warm, welcoming kitchen where the best parts of her years in the restaurant industry come together. Guided by Christian values, Callister’s is proud to be an alcohol-free establishment - something that will never change, ensuring it remains a wholesome, family-friendly place for the community to gather, share a meal, and feel at home.
